1. Easily soluble in water and hygroscopic. When heated to 680℃, it is decomposed into zinc oxide Zn3O(SO4), which is further decomposed above 2,750 ℃, and finally becomes zinc oxide at about 930℃.
2. Crystal water containing 1 or 7 molecules. Colorless transparent prismatic or fine acicular crystals or crystalline coarse powder. No odor. Monohydrate loses water above 238℃. Heptahydrate is pulverized in dry air at room temperature. Its aqueous solution is acidic to litmus. Soluble in water and glycerin, almost insoluble in ethanol.
